Minefinder

This is pretty much just minesweeper. This was a long term project I worked on while learning the Defold engine. DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS BELOW!

BASIC CONTROLS are left click or D key to dig, right click or F key to place a flag, and shift click or double click a tile to dig all around it.

You can ZOOM IN to any board with tiny tiles using the button on the bottom right of the board.

To CHANGE DIFFICULTY you need to click the corresponding face on the right of the screen to pick it and then the check that appears to set it.

Settings, controls, and credits are all under the top right orange button.

You can UPLOAD YOUR SCORES to the global leaderboard by clicking the globe in the top right. If you're on web, please read the info about it near the bottom of this document.

There is a door in the bottom left.

You can also contact me ^ if you'd like your high score to be REMOVED from the leaderboard for any reason.

- CONTROLS -

(LMB: Left click/Left mouse button; RMB: Right click/Right mouse button)

Dig = [LMB], [D]

Place flag = [RMB], [F],  [Shift+LMB]

Dig all tiles around clicked tile* = [Shift+LMB], [Double click LMB]

Retry** = [R]

Zoom in = [Shift+F] (will only zoom in on boards that are big enough)

Navigate zoomed-in board by one tile = Arrow keys

Navigate zoomed-in board to edge = Arrow keys

Navigate zoomed-in board up/down = Scroll up/down

Navigate zoomed-in board left/right = Scroll left/right

Cycle custom text boxes*** = [Tab]

Reset game files = [Shift+Q]

Make window bigger/smaller**** = [+]/[-]

*when you shift or double click a tile, it digs all unflagged tiles around said tile, regardless of whether there is a bomb underneath it

**pressing retry while the board is still resetting will instantly finish resetting it

***while editing custom text boxes, many conventional text controls are in place as well (shift+tab to navigate backwards, enter to set, escape to cancel)

- MORE INFO FOR WEB -

The WEB VERSION of Minefinder, readily available to play above, is basically the exact same as the downloaded version, save for a few differences outlined below.

LEADERBOARD:

You can still upload your scores on the WEB VERSION of Minefinder, but it is name-based instead of user-based. WHAT THIS MEANS is that any web user can update any other score uploaded on web just by using the same name. However, this also means that any scores you upload on web can be updated by anyone else. If you download the game, your score will be specific to your download of the game, so no one else can update it. Light grey names are web based and replaceable by any web user.

SAVING:

While you can save your progress on the WEB VERSION of Minefinder, you may lose this save when you reload or go to another browser. Downloading the full game on Itch.io trivializes this.

CONTROLS:

Controls are essentially the same on the WEB VERSION, with a few minor differences that can be found in the controls area of settings. The inaccessible controls are  greyed out.

DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS:

If you want to download the game instead of running the web version, you can either download the itch.io launcher or download the zip file for your platform. 

If you download the zip directly, there may be a warning that the developer is unknown. No worries, I'll tell you right now, the developer is me. If you're on Mac, to get around this you'll need to right click the file and select open from there, and then click open. On windows, click more and run anyway.
